The best beaches in Ibiza

Es Vedrà Ibiza

Ibiza has amazing beaches, there is no doubt about that. The only problem? There are too many to choose from! I am by no means an expert as I have only seen a few myself. But it’s enough to have an idea of what Ibiza has to offer. This list contains some of the most popular beaches in Ibiza, as well as some more secluded ones. Keep in mind that you'll need a car to visit the more quiet ones.

Long sandy beaches

'S Arenal de San Antonio

This is the city beach of San Antonio. Located directly at the boulevard, it has all the facilities for a perfect beach day such as shops and restaurants. San Antonio also has a marina that offers a variety of daytrips by boat.

Playa d'en Bossa

The sand stretch of 3 kilometers makes Playa d’en Bossa the longest beach on the island. Probably also the most famous beach of Ibiza as this is the location of popular clubs Ushuaia, Hï and Bora Bora beach bar.

The most instagrammable beaches

Cala Tarida

This is the largest beach on the west side of Ibiza and the view walking down the stairs is just mesmerizing! The sand at Cala Tarida is white and powdery and the sea has a light shade of blue. Plenty of great hotspots for food as well.

Cala d'Hort

The perfect view over mystical rock Es Vedrà makes Cala d’Hort the most iconic beach of Ibiza. I would recommend spending the day here at the beach, and then drive up to the Mirador just before sunset. Seeing the sun go down next to Es Vedrà is simply breathtaking!

Cala Conta

In my opinion, this is the most beautiful beach of Ibiza. Here you’ll find the lightest blue water on the island and the rocky islets add lots of visual charm to Cala Conta. Unfortunately, Cala Conta gets quite crowded during high season. Best thing is to arrive here at late afternoon and stay for sunset.

Best view over the beach

San Miguel

Puerto de San Miguel is a nice bay in the north of Ibiza and the caves of Can Marçà are located here. If you walk up to the caves, then you’ll get this astonishing view over the bay as a big bonus!

Portinatx

The bay of Portinatx consist of two beaches that merge together into an azure sea. This is mostly a family-oriented beach, the perfect place to visit when you want to escape the party crowds.

Quiet beaches

Cala d'en Serra

A little bay in the north of Ibiza. It is quite an adventure to get at Cala d'en Serra as you must drive downhill and let's not even mention the way back up. The pretty view over the bay and the relaxed vibe will make you forget about the bumpy ride though.

Cala Xarraca

Cala Xarraca contains black sand, it is not very large however it has more than enough space to lay down. Yes, even in high season! Climb the rocks on the left side for a 360 view over the beach.

Cala Boix

This is quite a large beach but it’s very calm. Cala Boix has powdery black sand and its location in the east makes it the perfect place to relax after visiting a hippy market.

Es Pou des Lleo

Do you want to avoid other tourists at all costs? Then Es Pou des Lleo is the right beach for you. This little bay does not contain much sand to lay down however you’ll get a very authentic scenery with all the fishing shacks.

Beaches to avoid in high season

Cala Bassa

Before going to Cala Bassa, I was warned that its beauty gets overshadowed by the many tourists in high season. Stubborn as I am, I still went. Well, you already guessed it, I was not impressed at all. I mean yeah, the scenery is nice, but you can’t really see it with so many people blocking your view. Plus, the beach bar there is very overpriced.

Las Salinas

Las Salinas is one of the most popular beaches in Ibiza, probably because of its proximity to Ibiza Town. The long sandy beach in combination with light blue water looks idyllic but trust me, it wasn’t relaxing at all. The stretch of sand between the trees and the sea is very small, meaning that there won’t be much space left between you and your neighbor.

If you want to go the extra mile

Formentera

If you have the time to do so, take the ferry and do a daytrip to sister island Formentera. Trust me, you won’t regret it! The waters at Formentera are so clear blue that you will feel like you are somewhere in the Caribbean. Cala Saona, La Roqueta and Platja de Llevant are some of the stunning beaches that Formentera has to offer. Ses Illetes is the most famous and eye-catching beach on the island, considered to be one of the most beautiful beaches in the world!
